Privacy Policy
At MarkdownTables.com, your privacy and data security are foundational. We believe developer tools should respect user confidentiality by design.
No Server Uploads
All parsing, formatting, validation, and conversion happens inside your web browser using client-side JavaScript. The only exceptions are importing a Google Sheet by URL and downloading the OCR engine for image and scanned-PDF import (see below).
No Databases or Accounts
We do not require accounts, logins, or credit cards. There is no remote database storing your drafts, spreadsheets, or Markdown code.
Zero Cell Logging
Our analytics (Google Analytics 4) track general page views and anonymous action counters (e.g. "Table Copied"). We never log table text or cell contents.
Local Storage Usage
To ensure you do not lose your work if your browser reloads, our tools use your browser's standard localStorage API to save your active table draft locally on your machine. This data is never sent across the network and can be cleared at any time using your browser's site-data settings.
Google Sheets Import
When you paste a Google Sheets link into the Google Sheets importer, the link is sent to our edge function (/api/fetch-sheet, hosted on Cloudflare). It downloads the sheet's public CSV export from Google and passes it straight back to your browser. We do not store or log the sheet URL or its contents. Copy-pasting cells from Google Sheets instead keeps everything in your browser.
Image and PDF Import
The image and PDF table tools read your file inside your browser. The file is never uploaded. To recognize text in a picture or scanned page, the browser downloads the open-source Tesseract OCR engine and the language data from the jsDelivr CDN the first time you use it, so jsDelivr can see that your browser requested those engine files (but not your image). Text-based PDFs are read without any download.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and anonymous tool actions (for example, "copy output" with the chosen format). Google Analytics sets first-party cookies and receives your IP address and browser details under Google's privacy policy. Table text and cell contents are never included in analytics events.
Cookies and Advertising
We use Google AdSense and third-party advertising partners to serve non-intrusive advertisements that support the free operation of this service. These partners may use cookies to serve personalized ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
